Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
T-bone was a stray from Tracy that had been picked up by animal control and his owners were contacted and they weren't interested in picking him up. It turns out that he had spent his life chained and making puppies. He bears the scars on his neck from the heavy chain and collar that he wore for so long. I took him in last October and re-homed him in November. He is available again and is about 4-6 years. Neutered, shots current and on prevention he is ready to try again. These adult dogs are so easy to keep, no fuss no muss. He is patiently waiting for his new home, are you the family for him. Please call and we can set up a meet and greet.
UPDATE - I have been able to spend some time with T-bone and his gray face is not what he is about. He loves to play, especially with the hose. He jumps in the air spins and runs in circles. He gets so excited he will start chasing his tail. It is hilarious. He is a good boy, definitely the guard dog kind of Boxer. Will alert bark occasionally but responds to a verbal correction. Knows come ,sit, stay, but won't do down, he knows it but is just stubborn. He loves people doesn't jump up on anyone. He has a shoe fetish and would love to grab your feet, but I have been discouraging that play. He gets too excited and doesn't listen to commands well. I have been distracting him from shoe catching to chasing the hose and encouraging him to focus on other fun things. He does posture when meeting other dogs. Does NOT seem to like small dogs or cats. He has done well with my pack, male and female. My male is very passive though so I don't know about all males. He does love the girls. He goes after their legs and feet in play so it is just his nature. Needs work on leash training but he is very treat motivated so should be no problem. He would do best in a home where he could be with people most of the time. He spent so much time separated from humans and deserves his share of what he has missed. He hasn't destroyed anything in his kennel area when confined or the backyard when he is out there exercising. He has experienced some kind of leg injury sometime in his life but it has healed and he has a little hitch in his get-a-long when walking. It is not painful and hasn't kept him from enjoying life.
