Diego is a quiet and unsuspecting happy guy with a fun loving, calm personality. If you pay close attention he has a cute underbite, but it's mostly overshadowed by his big smile. Diego is around 5 years old and weighs between 40-50 lbs. He is very affectionate and has a big heart with lots of love to give. Diego likes to chase the ball and chew on toys. He loves to be around people, and being petted, given belly rubs, and snuggling. Diego enjoys walks, and is good when on a leash. He has good manners when offered a treat and will gently take it from your hand. Diego knows how to "sit" and "shake" your hand for treats, and will be easy to train for more obedience. The shelter gave Diego a behavioral test and rated him as being in the "couch potato" category which means if you like the easy life, then Diego is the perfect match for you. Diego is a relaxed, laid-back kind of dog who enjoys long naps, watching movies, curling up on laps, and walking very short distances from the couch to the food bowl and back. (Internally motivated) Diego will need a home with a patient owner who loves to laugh and play around, where he would get a short daily walk, and get to be an inside dog, at least while you are home. Diego is showing signs of being housetrained, but all shelter dogs need a few weeks of your patience to be rehousetrained to your home/routine. Diego can be found in the Augie Doggie area in Kennel D-089. (KM)

Dogs are "pack animals" and need to be inside the house daily with their humans. Most behavior problems such as barking, chewing and hyper behavior are caused by leaving a dog in a backyard day and night.
