Rojo - Amputee - Santa Cruz, Ca

ROJO - ID#A140945

My name is ROJO. I am a neutered male, red and white Boxer. The shelter thinks I am about 3 years old.I have been at the shelter since Apr 17, 2009.This information is less than 1 hour old.

Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:

Rojo is the ultimate party boy. He came in after having been hit by a car which resulted in one of Rojo's rear legs having to be amputated. So Rojo is now a tripod and couldn't care less. He is a typical Boxer, even down one leg: playful, goofy, energetic, wiggly, and wild! He spent his recuperation period in a Boxer-loving foster home that included 2 Dachshunds and 2 young kids. Rojo does beautifully with small dogs, although he runs them over in throes of enthusiasm sometimes, and let the Doxies rule the roost without question. He needs additional socialization with other large dogs so a dog-savvy home with the inclination and time to do training with Rojo is essential. He also did well with the kids but is a bit of a dorky bruiser (and a chow hound) to be a good match for most homes with small children. He would follow the littlest one around incessantly when she had food, thinking she might fork it over. Rojo will be a cat chaser if he gets the chance so should go to a home with no cats and a good fence. According to his foster home, he is fully housetrained and LOVES sprinklers and garden hoses. Want to see him show his wild man colors? Break out the hose! His foster family was heartbroken to give him up (they're at their limit) but you can benefit from all the love they've poured into this boy, not to mention his natural charm! JP
