This beautiful Boxer mix is sure to be one of the best additions to any lucky family home. Mona is Miss Personality and her favorite pasttime is spending as much time as possible with her people. She is full of spunk, loves to play with toys, throw balls, jump through the hose water, go for walks, ride in the car, and watch the neighborhood activity. She is alert, observant, very smart and quick to learn, and she will need dog savvy guardians who will carry through consistently because some of her charm is in testing the limits to see if you really mean it! And when testing you, she'll give you looks that will require great human restraint to keep you from bursting out laughing! Mona is estimated to be about 3 years of age. We were saddened to learn that she had spent most of her previous life as an outdoor dog, but boy oh boy did she learn the joys of living indoors quickly! She's fully housebroken (needed no training, in fact!) and loves cozy beds and couches to curl up or spread out on. She knows many basic commands, such as sit, down, off, come, and no - and will obey when you can say it without giggling. As the strong girl she is, she needs firmness without anger or forcefulness. As she's learning to live indoors, new noises sometimes still startle her. She is absolutely f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c with children of all ages and prefers to spend her time licking their faces if given the opportunity. As extremely gentle with kids as she is, kids should be comfortable with a big, sturdy, goof of a dog. Mona is also great with other dogs and is typically the more passive of the pair. Given the choice though, she happily will chose human company. Her one bad trait is that any food left out will be devoured from countertops, open cabinets -- you get the idea. The learning curve in her foster home saw 2 1/2 loaves of bread, raw rice, lettuce, two cantaloupes (rind and all!) fall victim to her curiosity! Mona is an amazing, sweet, gentle, beautiful companion and would be great in any loving family environment. It is preferred that she go to a home where someone is home more often so that she's not left alone for the typical 8-10 hour day. While she's not destructive when alone, she's spent too much time in her past life alone, so she now deserves the happy home with the human companionship she craves! Mona is spayed and current on vaccines and will be a fortunate addition to the right home! To apply to adopt Mona, please complete an adoption application at www.cchumane.org/seedogs.htm.
