Santa Cruz, Ca - Bella

BELLA - ID#A152260
My name is BELLA.
I am a spayed female, fawn and white Boxer.
The shelter staff think I am about 4 years old.
I have been at the shelter since Feb 13, 2010.

Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Bella is a beautiful four-year-old boxer. She was surrendered to the shelter due to an unfortunate change in living situation that forced her owners to bring her in.
Bella is an independent girl; interested in sniffing around and finding which pocket you hid the dog treat in! Bella is active and excitable, but settles and seeks attention when she's familiar with you and her surroundings. She walks ok on leash and may know some basic commands, but again, she would like to make sure she gets a treat in exchange. Bella's new home should have secure containment, not just for Bella but for her food and treats…she loves them and will likely try to get to them when your back is turned. We recommend Bella go to an adult only OR family home with kids no younger than 12.
Bella has lived with another dog and did fine. They should be fed apart from each other to avoid any scuffles. Adopters are strongly encouraged to take Bella to a basic obedience course for three main reasons: it will provide a good start towards positive behavior; it will provide a bonding experience with her new people; And it will provide positive socialization around new dogs in a controlled setting and with professional guidance. Overall Bella is moderately playful and energetic, so a good match would be a family that can incorporate her into regular walks, jogs and hikes as well as dinner and a movie.
